The Guardian™ Gas and Sand Separator Delivers a 10X Increase in Run Life in the Bakken
An operator in the Bakken utilized the Guardian™ Gas and Sand Separator to address chronically short rod lift system run times and poor pump fillage. After installing the Guardian, average runtimes increased from 30 days to 318 days, an improvement of over 10 times. During operation, the pump maintained 92% fillage, and upon retrieval, all three mud joints were full.
The system was field-cleaned, redressed, and immediately reinstalled.

The Guardian™ Triple Bypass Tubing Anchor Catcher (TAC) is designed to work in conjunction with the Guardian Gas and Sand Separator, eliminating flow restrictions and gas recirculation to maximize pump fillage, production output, and equipment run times.

The Guardian™ Gas and Sand Separator & Triple Bypass TAC Yield Increased Production in the Bakken
A major Bakken operating company was seeking a more effective downhole separation system to improve performance across its reciprocating rod-lifted wells. The wells’ existing bottom-hole assemblies (BHA) were not delivering consistent results in terms of fillage, fluid production, or gas recovery.
These issues were effectively addressed by installing the Guardian Gas and Sand Separator, combined with the Guardian Triple Bypass TAC. This tool combination delivered increased pump fillage, from 84% to 94%, total fluids from 120 to 174 BFPD, and gas output from 189 to 316 Mscf/d.
