Fiberglass Sucker Rods Deliver Results

By Endurance Lift Solutions

Endurance Lift’s innovative FIBEROD® Fiberglass Sucker Rods are engineered to offer the highest load-handling capacity and deliver improved runtime and increased production for sucker rod pumped wells.

With over a million FIBEROD Fiberglass Sucker Rods sold, the value provided by this advanced product is clear:

  • Its lightweight design often allows the use of smaller pumping units and gearboxes, reducing electrical and capital costs
  • Provides improved strength and durability thanks to our proprietary wedge design, which features 32% thicker end-fitting walls
  • Offers an effective solution to replace 2nd and 3rd run ESPs without sacrificing production
  • Available as sucker rods and pony rods in a choice of 1 or 1-1/4 inch diameters, in 37-1/2” foot lengths
  • Available with proprietary high-flow (HIFL) end fittings, which can increase flow area by over 40% and reduce the pressure drop across end fittings by over 60%

Below, we explore four recent examples of FIBEROD Fiberglass Sucker Rods in action.

A Bakken operator was struggling to adjust a rod lift pump to the lower vertical position in an S-curve deviated well using conventional steel sucker rods.

Endurance Lift offered a solution to the operator’s problem – using FIBEROD Fiberglass Sucker Rods, and the results were dramatic: not only was the operator able to run the pump at the desired position, but the well’s BOPD exceeded client expectations and substantially leveled out the predicted production decline curve compared to steel sucker rod design estimations.

A large Bakken operator was experiencing a number of failures and increased LOE in rod lift wells due to their severe deviation. Average runtimes were only 12 months.

Endurance Lift deployed FIBEROD Fiberglass Sucker Rods for an 8-well trial. The result? Runtimes were significantly improved: from 12 months to 20 months and counting. Concerning the trial, the operator explained:

“By installing fiberglass, we saw reduced weight and tensile stress on the rods, load on the gearbox, and on the structure for the pumping unit. These factors also let us set the pump deeper, allowing for better pump fillage and keeping the system in a more optimized state of operation.“

A large Permian operator partnered with our rod lift optimization experts to answer an important question:

Could reducing flow restrictions associated with fiberglass end fittings increase fluid production without changing strokes per minute?

To answer that question, Endurance Lift installed a Series 300 FIBEROD® high-flow system with 1.8125” end fittings into a trial well. Data collected proved that the Series 300 HIFL design increased production by 17% without any changes to surface stroke, SPM, downhole pump size, or rod design.

A Powder River Basin operator was seeking new ways to cut capital expenditures, reduce downtime, and maximize production. Working with Endurance Lift rod lift experts, the operator replaced all-steel sucker rods with a combination of steel and FIBEROD® Fiberglass Sucker Rods, and used a conventional 912 pumping unit in lieu of a more expensive long-stroke unit.

The customer’s data proved that the FIBEROD-steel sucker rod mix increased production by 7.8%. In addition, the operator was able to slash capital equipment costs by 60.3% by substituting the lower-cost 912 pumping unit for the more expensive long-stroke unit.
